Jo Irvine has been making our Seize the Day Barossa Shiraz since 2014 and our Seize the Day Rosé since 2013.
To make a premium Barossa Shiraz, you need to know what you’re doing. We love working with Jo, because she’s as passionate about the wine she makes as we are about growing the fruit in our Shiraz vineyard. Listening to Jo talk about anything to do with wine and the wine industry is the ultimate indulgence for us. Her knowledge and perspective is captivating and almost hypnotic!
Jo was following her Dad, Australia’s “Merlot King” Jim Irvine, around the winery from the age of seven. Her first career was two decades as an operating theatre nurse before she was drawn back to the wine industry, like so many other children of winemakers!
While studying wine making, Jo worked several vintages in Sonoma and Napa in California. She makes wine for many clients, both nationally and internationally and is responsible for the establishment of many successful and well known brands here in the Barossa.
Jo was made a Baron of the Barossa in 2014. Membership of this Fraternity is by invitation and is offered to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the Barossa. New Barons are inducted into the Fraternity in a colourful ceremony and membership is for life.
Now that we’ve set the scene, read more about Jo in this Barossa Dirt interview from 2014 after being inducted as a Baron of the Barossa. >>>>>
