The 2016 Barossa vintage is over, certainly it is in our Seize the Day vineyard as the leaves turn to glorious Autumn colours. Picking started in late February and was over by mid March. We’re very, very happy with our grape quality. Right now the Shiraz is doing its thing in the winery and is about to go into 100% French oak barrels, beginning it’s journey of two years or more until it sees a bottle.
This image is of our Shiraz grapes and was taken by our friend and neighbour Craig Hunter (who is as enthusiastic about our harvest as us!), just prior to picking in February.
Here’s what our talented winemaker Jo Irvine (who you met in our last blog) has to say about the 2016 vintage….you can see why we’re excited!
