2014 Seize the Day Shiraz

Premium, single vineyard Barossa Shiraz. New release, July 2017.

Made using fruit sourced from the best rows of our Seppeltsfield 5 acre Seize the Day Shiraz vineyard, this wine is the pinnacle of our wine producing journey which started in 1999.
Five years of planning, the grapes nurtured and worried over by Peter, a gifted winemaker Joanne Irvine, three years maturation in French oak, (including some from Cognac), all beautifully presented in an elegant French bottle. Even the label is special, Seize the Day is Peters handwriting.

Barossa Shiraz at the hand of Peter Milhinch and Sharyn Rogers. Grown on a vineyard at Seppeltsfield. 165 dozen made.

This is slick and intense. Oak and fruit, well married, its inkiness served fresh. It tastes of boysenberry and sweet plum, spearmint and milk chocolate. It has might and power but it’s not over the top, though the level of oak here will disturb some. I looked at this over the course of 24 hours and as time went on the fruit pushed ever-more to the front, though oak was always clear and present. Tannin presents as fine-grained but assertive; you’d call it well integrated but with a slight inclination to strike out on its own. The price is ambitious but every indication is that a long and positive future lies ahead.
